We have this „Tücsökfalva Camp” for more than 20 years,. This June, we organized two camps again for folk dancers and interested children. From our very first camps until today, our main focus has been on passing down, teaching back, and shaping a comprehensive perspective in children. Folk dance + traditional games + folk tales + crafts + ethnographic stories + gastronomy = 1 week of celebration in the "Nagykun" style.
So many things find a place in our camps, including our sporty traditional game, KUNFOCI.
This year, we had two camps for two different age groups. Our goal was not only to teach dance material but also to build a sense of community. In the camp for the little ones (1st and 2nd graders), many of them, as first-time campers, are just getting used to camp life. This camp served as a prelude to next year's "traveling-away" folk dance camp. Alongside the collection of Nagykun customs and games, we aimed to shape the foundation of Túrkeve dances for the little ones. The camp for the older age group was more dynamic and lively from a dance perspective. People around here say about this age group, "You could hitch it to a six-horse plow, and it would pull it." That's our Garagulyos age group. We were delighted that many people found the motivation to join the ensemble's work last school year. Thus, this was an initiation opportunity for many kids.
